Course speech

Using the meaning and spirituality methods described here should be part of your total efforts to lower anxiety. As you have seen in this lesson, there are many ways stress and anxiety can affect us in our everyday lives and in the long-term, our minds and bodies. The scientifically supported benefits of spirituality can improve physical and psychological wellbeing so that you can take advantage of other anxiety treatments. When using these techniques as part of your treatment plan for anxiety, you should keep the following in mind:

  • Exercise movement therapies often address problems with the flow of energy through a system of bodily movement, breathing and meditation. This can be a way of unlocking potential psychological flow for a more spiritual life. Meditation is another exercise to express and connect your sense of spirituality which can both reduce anxiety and increase happiness. The Relaxation Exercises lesson provides a number of meditation activities you can use to access to your sense spirituality.
  • In order to reach a state of flow in your work and leisure activities, it is important to identify and learn to use your signature strengths. Please see Positive Self-Talk for methods that can help you find your strengths and increase happiness.
  • When reaching a state of Flow, you have more instances of pleasure than you may have ever been able to identify. Being able to identify and appreciate pleasure in a positive manner can help you replace some of the negative or worried thoughts that lead to anxiety. To find out ways to be grateful, you can visit the lesson on Gratitude and Savouring.
  • After trying other therapies or combining them with these exercises, you may find that the exercises presented in this lesson are all you need for your level of anxiety. You can always use these techniques by themselves without other therapies.
